Not sure if you've heard of this incident; it was all over the informal channels such as online forums and tabloid newspapers. Supposedly 3 foreign tourists made an old ah pek ferry them on his trishaw, then laughed at him and refused to pay for the ride. They were then slammed from all sides for being so nasty.

Now one of them refutes the trishaw rider's story and insists that they did pay the old man $10 off-camera. And that they had laughed at him because they were drunk that night.

Who's right and who's wrong? (Should it be any of my business anyway?)

Watching the video, I did get a little riled up. Because regardless of whether they did pay him or not, they should not have made an old man take all 3 of them big-sized caucasians in a single trishaw. You can see how hard the ah pek is peddling (although ahem, he still had enough breath and a free hand to drawl on his cigarette).

It was sad, seeing how the ah pek tried hard to make small talk with his passengers "Very happy?", although it's obviously out of his comfort zone... the way he followed them around asking for his fee... and the fact that old people end up doing this kind of job for sustenance when they should be enjoying retirement after decades of hard work.
