Come come, dun shy...
(Closed this week for adjustment of menu, pls call to check before going.)

My elder sister and brother-in-law just opened a new vegetarian cafe near Little India. It's in a conserved shophouse on the street after the infamous Desker Rd. The decor look is 'deconstructed', as they had stripped all the plaster to expose the original bricks used. Signboard not up yet. It's a gallery-cafe, with a arty-farty exhibition next door. Artists occupy the upstairs workspaces. That's also the reason for the location, as Little India is a little artists' enclave.
The cafe serve contemporary vegetarian food, i.e. Western-style fusion dishes without meat. All the dishes were especially created by the Australian chef; they also have a baker to do their own wheat bread. Chai and coffee are fair-trade and they're coming up with organic dishes.
My family played critic on Thursday night and tried a few dishes. The food is good! Not expensive also. We were
very satisfied. Very worth it
(really lah, not biased). They open for dinner and drinks, not lunch
(so far). House pour is good too, has a tangy thai/vietnam flavour.
The crispy crust pizza ($11.90) can feed 2 pax, very nice, 3 types to choose from. Grilled brinjal + rice is also yummy and Mediterranean-tasting. So is the tempeh burger!
They're still adjusting the menu, so it may change from day to day. Can call to ask, 6294 0041. Everything comes with a generous serving of mixed salad. Try the brownie and "banana cow" desserts too, personally cooked by my BIL :9
Before dinner activity: Visit the "Museum of Shanghai Toys" a few doors down, they have wide collection of tin toys etc. ($5 adults)
After dinner activity: Can take a look at the transvestites sitting along that row of shophouses touting for business :p
